There are multiple small shopping plazas in Hurontario located along the major streets that offer convenience type stores, restaurants and food shops that reflect the cultural diversity of this neighbourhood. Hurontario is primarily residential, but in close proximity to major centres such as Heartland Town Centre located at Mavis and Brittania; is an outdoor shopping centre with 180 stores, making it is one of Canada's largest malls. Hurontario is well connected to other areas of Mississauga and in close proximity to other amenities.

Hurontario has many little parks within the neighbourhood. The neighbourhood as one main community centre available to residents, the Frank McKechnie Community Centre and Library that offers a variety of activities for people of all ages. The community centre has a public pool and gym that offers classes and serves as a space for indoor recreational activity. This historic street runs all the way from the Lakeshore Road in Port Credit and then north to Collingwood in Simcoe County. This stretch of Hurontario was farmland until the neighbourhood was developed in the late 1980s. The history of rural Hurontario can be seen at Brittania Farm a 200-acre green space, bordered by Hurontario St., Bristol Rd., McLaughlin Rd. and Matheson Blvd., and owned in trust by the Peel District School Board for educational use. This site features an old farmhouse, time-weathered barn, a gentleman's Georgian homestead and a historic schoolhouse.
