CREATING INNOVATIVE, DESIGN DRIVEN CONDOMINIUMS AND COMMUNITIES IN TORONTO

Context was formed in 1997 by Stephen Gross and Howard Cohen. The company is focused on the development of mixed-use projects, condominiums and affordable rental housing in Toronto's central neighbourhoods. Context are pioneers in downtown intensification with buildings based on quality design, sustainability and innovative city planning.

Context is backed by Waterloo Capital, a private investment fund controlled by Stephen Gross and Gerald Schwartz, the CEO of Onex Corporation.

City of Toronto Urban Design Awards winners include Spire, Radio City, Ideal, District Lofts, Kensington Market Lofts, Upper East Side, and 20 Niagara. Home was awarded the Award of Excellence by both Canadian Architect Magazine and the Ontario Association of Architects. Tip Top Lofts was named the BILD (formerly Greater Toronto Home Builders) Project of the Year. The Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) named District Lofts their most innovative building. Christopher Hume of the Toronto Star wrote, “MOZO is one of the most beautiful buildings in Toronto. I give it an A+, and it could serve as the prototype for downtown residential development in 21st century Toronto.” Radio City was named the National Urban Design Award Winner by the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada, The Canadian Institute of Planners, and the Canadian Society of Landscape Architects, and won the Global Award of Excellence from the Urban Land Institute.
